What we are doing?
Our Cow Molly is a farm with a long history of diversifying; from being a dairy farm to becoming an ice-cream producer and local education centre.
The Our Sheffield Farm project continues this evolution and will transform the family farm into an energy producer for the city of Sheffield whilst it continues as a dairy farm.
Our project capitalises on the farm’s reputation as an innovator for sustainable farming practice using this to grow local support for a community owned initiative that will invest back into Sheffield.
We aim to moo-ve dairy farming towards net zero.
This project is being delivered by a partnership of SY Ecofit and Sheffield Renewables. Together, we will design, install and operate the site infrastructure, which will be a community-owned asset. We will work with the farm as the landowner and off-taker for some of the energy we produce.

Why are we doing it?
Increasing community wealth-building, adding value to the electricity we produce by turning it into green hydrogen.
Decarbonising agriculture by capturing and using fugitive methane emissions and reducing reliance on artificial fertiliser.
Supporting the move to net zero in ‘hard to electrify’ sectors.
The small print
This project will require a substantial investment.
We will deliver it over two years, making it more manageable and affordable.
We want to raise this from community shares, sponsorship, grants and other sources. We need your creativity and cash to make this happen!
